Puerto Vallarta: Still time to book Liz Taylor’s former love nest for Valentine’s Day (or anytime)
Casa Kimberly in Puerto Vallarta comes with an old-school Hollywood pedigree.
Richard Burton bought the home for then love interest Elizabeth Taylor while he was filming “Night of the Iguana†in 1964 in the Mexican coastal town. At the time, Puerto Vallarta was a little fishing village, not a mega-resort destination.
Anyway, Burton bought his own home across the way so the two could be close, as the story goes.
Taylor sold it in the ‘90s and changed hands and fell into disrepair until hotelier Janice Chatterton — who owns Burton’s nearby property and opened it as the Hacienda San Angel — bought it and refashioned it into a gorgeous luxe boutique hotel.
It opened Dec. 1. (Check out the photo gallery above.)
It has just nine suites, including Taylor’s bedroom suite (for those who want bragging rights).
Suites are situated to capitalize on the luxury of Taylor’s original home, the romance of the coast and spectacular views of the mountains.
This month, you can splurge on the Legendary Romance Package, which includes:
— a two-night stay in a suite
— transportation to and from the airport
— a margarita and tequila tasting session for two
— couple’s massage
— a sauna and rose-petal private spa
— a four-course dinner for two on a private terrace or at the hotel’s Iguana Restaurant.
And for an extra Liz and Dick touch, you’ll receive a Chocolatini, reportedly the couple’s favorite cocktail.
Prices start at $1,274, excluding taxes.

If you’re gaga for Taylor, here’s an L.A. stop worth making: Photographer Catherine Opie produced huge photos of the film star’s Bel-Air home. Shot over six months, it’s an intimate look at the life Taylor led outside of the public eye.
“700 Nimes Road†is on display at the MOCA Pacific Design Center through May 8.
