What should you do if you encounter a giant sea turtle while swimming or snorkeling in Hawaii? Want to find a secret spot for great kayaking and outrigger canoeing?

The newly released Go Hawaii mobile app answers these questions and more. The Hawaii Tourism Authority app provides suggestions about what to do on the islands of Hawaii, Kauai, Lanai, Molokai, Oahu and Maui along with useful safety tips for visitors.

Of course, all the information is available on the agency’s website. But the app makes it easier for those on the go.

So what about that sea turtle encounter? The app’s advice: Do not to touch, or attempt to ride, marine animals. And, limit your “observing time†to 30 minutes.

And for off-the-beaten-path destinations, the app points to a waterfall that’s more than twice as high as Niagara Falls. Akaka Falls State Park is near Hilo on Hawaii Island.

The Wailea River, Hawaii's longest, provides excellent opportunities for canoeing and kayaking.

The app also suggests kayakers and canoers head to Kauai and the Wailua River, the longest navigable waterway in the state.

You can even download Hawaii-centric emojis too.

The Go Hawaii mobile app also offers information on upcoming events and weather forecasts for each island. It is available in English, German, Japanese, Korean and Chinese.

It’s available on Android and iOS.
