Located in America’s oldest city you’ll find Castillo de San Marcos, the scene of several supposed hauntings. Back in 1784 during the second Spanish occupation Col. Garcia Marti suspected his wife Delores Marti of having an affair with Capt. Abela when he smelled her distinct perfume on his uniform. It’s said the jealous husband killed the lovers and their spirits still haunt the halls. Guests have also reported seeing a Seminole leap from the wall to freedom and night watchmen who refused to abandon their post even after death.

Port Mayaca Cemetery is the site of a mass grave used to bury some of the 2,500 victims of a 1928 hurricane. Before that, in 1910, pioneers found several skeletons from people believed to have died in the water. It’s still unclear how so many skeletons ended up in the lake, but there are reports of bones being found as recent as 1953.
