Organizers of an annual Laguna Beach music festival, being held this year on June 18, are seeking volunteers.
Students and adults are needed for photography, video production and painting during the ninth Fete de la Musique, organized by the Laguna Beach Sister Cities Assn. The nonprofit organization is devoted to cultural and educational exchanges with its three sister cities — Menton, France; San Jose del Cabo, Mexico; and St. Ives, England.
Festivities start at noon on the Main Beach cobblestones with face painting and costuming, followed by a children’s parade at 12:30 p.m. with music provided by the Swing Set Band, a subset of the Laguna Concert Band.
Opening ceremonies are set for 1 p.m., followed by performances from a variety of musicians throughout Laguna’s downtown.
Interested volunteers may contact Robert Gluckson at (949) 295-2045 or [email protected].
The Fête de la Musique began in France in the 1980s, according to a news release. It now occurs in almost every city, town and village in France and has spread to more than 100 countries. It is also known as the International Day of Music and celebrates the start of summer.
