USC players enjoy treat after hot afternoon practice
The USC football team enjoyed shaved ice after Saturday’s practice in 90-degree-plus temperatures on Brian Kennedy-Howard Jones Field.

The USC football team wrapped up its first week of training camp Saturday with a 2 1/2-hour practice in temperatures hovering in the 90s on Brian Kennedy-Howard Jones Field.
Waiting for the team in the north end zone was a shaved-ice truck.
Players jostled for a spot in line and freshmen were sent to the back, but all seemed happy to enjoy the cool treat.
“Coach [Steve Sarkisian] took care of us,” defensive lineman Antwaun Woods said. “A reward for a hard, hot practice today.”
Said defensive back John Plattenburg: “Oh, it’s amazing, this is beautiful, I’m not going to lie to you,” as he crunched on pink-lemonade-flavored ice.
The Trojans are set to return to practice on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. PDT. The workout is open to the public.
USC is scheduled to open the season Sept. 5 against Arkansas State.
