Matt Leinart calls Josh Shaw situation ‘embarrassing’

Matt Leinart won the Heisman Trophy and led USC to two national titles. He’s a proud Trojan.

But this week on Fox Sports 1, the former team captain called the Josh Shaw situation “embarrassing.�

Shaw’s fabricated story and the school’s decision to publish it created controversies around a program finally free of NCAA sanctions and the self-created distractions of Lane Kiffin.

USC just came off a really, really bad few years,� said Leinart, who noted that the program had in 2014 “flown under the radar.�

And now this happens,� he said, adding, “it’s embarrassing.�

The Trojans open the season Saturday against Fresno State.
