Clay Helton and his almost-complete coaching staff hosted several recruits on official visits last weekend.
Rashan Gary, the consensus top recruit in the 2016 class, made the trip from New Jersey with his mother.
Gary, a 6-foot-4, 285-pound defensive lineman, also has made official visits to Auburn, Michigan and Mississippi.
Gary’s mother, Jennifer Coney, told Brian Dohn from Scout that the visit to USC was a “game changer.”
Gary has not announced where he will make his fifth and final visit.
Connor Murphy, an uncommitted recruit from Brophy Preparatory in Phoenix, also was on campus.
The 6-foot-7, 250-pound defensive end said that the trip “went very well” and that he “hit it off with all the coaches and players.”
Murphy spoke with defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast briefly during the visit. “He flew in to meet with me and he literally drove straight to the hotel to chat with us,” Murphy said.
Murphy made a trip to Oregon in November and will visit Michigan and Alabama before the end of the month.
Trojans commits Frank Martin II, Cary Angeline, Tyler Vaughns, Trevon Sidney, Jordan Iosefa and Velus Jones also were among the visitors.
Jones has made official visits to Michigan, Oklahoma and Tennessee.
