Do Pac-12 coaches need a do-over on UCLA linebacker Eric Kendricks?

Pac-12 coaches’ ability to pick an all-conference team took another hit Thursday, when UCLA linebacker Eric Kendricks was named second-team Walter Camp All-American.
Kendricks was assigned to the All-Pac-12’s second team last week. Since then, he has won the Butkus Award, given to the nation’s top linebacker, and been named All-American.
Arizona’s Scooby Wright III, Washington’s Hau’oli Kikaha and Washington’s Shaq Thompson were the linebackers named first-team All-Pac-12. Wright and Kikaha were named to the Walter Camp first team, along with Texas Christian’s Paul Dawson. Texas’ Jordan Hicks and Mississippi State’s Benardrick McKinney were on the second team with Kendricks.
Kendricks’ 471 career tackles broke the UCLA record set by linebacker Jerry Robinson (1975-78). This season, he has 139 tackles and three interceptions, one that was returned for a touchdown. He is a finalist for the Lott IMPACT Trophy, which will be awarded on Sunday.
Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota was named the Walter Camp player of the year.
