USC football: Trojans begin Hawaii preparations
- Share via
After a day off, USC returns to practice Friday in preparation for Thursday’s season opener at Hawaii.
Coach Lane Kiffin has yet to announce whether Max Wittek or Cody Kessler will start at quarterback for the Trojans.
Nearly two dozen players sat out portions of training camp because of injuries, but most are expected to return this week.
Senior tailback Silas Redd, who is coming off knee surgery, and senior safety Dion Bailey, who suffered a hip injury, are among players who could be questionable for the opener.
This will be the third time in eight years that the Trojans will begin their season at Hawaii.
In 2005, USC won, 63-17. The Trojans won, 49-36, in 2010 in Kiffin’s first game as USC’s head coach.
