USC football: Leonard Williams picked up where he left off
USC defensive lineman Leonard Williams earned Freshman All-American recognition in 2012 after recording 13-1/2 tackles for losses, including eight sacks.
Williams has moved from tackle to end in USC’s new “52†defense, but the 6-foot-5, 290-pound Florida native was just as disruptive in the Trojans’ 30-13 season-opening victory over Hawaii.
Williams had five tackles, including two sacks.
“We have a lot of blitz packages,†he said, “and when everybody’s executing their plays it frees up everybody else.â€
USC limited Hawaii to 23 yards rushing.
“We just wanted to come out and show how to execute our new defense,†he said. “I felt like everybody just tied into it and it worked out good.â€
