U.S. athletes win in advance of 2014 Sochi Olympics

U.S. Olympic hopes received a big boost on two fronts this weekend.
Steven Holcomb and Steve Langton set a track record in winning a two-man bobsled race in Igls, Austria, on Saturday. It marked the first time in four years that Holcomb had piloted a sled to a World Cup victory outside of North America.
“They actually moved the timing eye a few meters, so whoever was fastest today would have the track record,” Holcomb said. “I take it with a grain of salt, but it still felt very good.”
In Poland, Kikkan Randall won her second consecutive World Cup cross-country sprint.
Randall is hoping to break a 38-year medal drought for U.S. cross-country skiers, who have not stood on the podium since Bill Koch won silver in 1976.
“The focus of the season has always been on getting in peak shape for the Olympics,” she said.
