Angels trade reliever Scott Downs to Atlanta for Cory Rasmus
The Angels traded left-handed reliever Scott Downs to the Atlanta Braves on Monday for right-hander Cory Rasmus.
Downs has been the Angels’ best reliever this season, including making 29 consecutive appearances without giving up a run.
Downs, 37, has a 2-3 record with 18 holds, a 1.84 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP.
Rasmus, 25, the younger brother to Toronto center fielder Colby Rasmus, has spent most of the season in the minors, but was 0-0 with an 8.10 ERA in three games with the Braves.
