The time has come for Clippers rookie Reggie Bullock to get his opportunity to play.

Bullock, a rookie out of North Carolina, will be counted upon by the Clippers to play more minutes now that Matt Barnes is out with a bruised left eye that sidelined him for the Minnesota game Wednesday night and will keep him out of the Oklahoma City matchup Thursday.

“When I get this opportunity, I just have to continue to play well,†Bullock said. “With Matt being down, I just have to step right in and just try to keep that second unit going like Matt was doing when he was here. It’s just being confident when I’m out there.â€

Bullock played 12 minutes, 27 seconds against Minnesota, going two-for-four from the field and two-for-two from three-point range.

“It’s just being ready, just being confident,†Bullock said. “I know I’m a shooter. That’s what they are expecting of me when I come in — to space the floor and play defense. That’s what I did in college.

“It felt really good to see the ball go in. It felt like I missed my last probably 100 attempts.â€

No, Bullock was told as he laughed, he had not missed that many shots.

But he had missed seven of his first field-goal attempts and all six of his three-pointers in the seven games he had played in prior to Minnesota.

“When you’re a shooter and you see that many misses, you expect there to be a lot more misses,†Bullock said. “But it’s just being confident and taking the shot. If I see one go down, I’ll continue to shoot the ball.â€
