Dolphins’ Mike Pouncey testifies in Aaron Hernandez case, report says
Miami center Mike Pouncey traveled to Massachusetts this week, and it had nothing to do with the Dolphins playing host to New England in a pivotal AFC East game this weekend.
Pouncey missed practice Wednesday to testify before a grand jury in the Aaron Hernandez case, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Hernandez, a former star tight end for the Patriots, is behind bars and charged in the June shooting death of acquaintance Odin Lloyd.
Pouncey and Hernandez were teammates and friends at the University of Florida. Before the season, Pouncey and his twin brother, Maurkice, Pro Bowl center for the Pittsburgh Steelers, were photographed wearing caps reading “Free Hernandez.â€
The Dolphins, who are obligated to report that Mike Pouncey did not practice, listed his reason as “non-injury.†He missed two games because of illness last month, but has started the past two games.
