Heavyweight Oscar Rivas scratched from Saturday Honda Center card

Unbeaten heavyweight Oscar Rivas was not cleared Thursday at a state-mandated eye exam, and his Saturday night bout at Honda Center against former USC football player Gerald Washington is canceled, officials said.
Rivas (18-0, 13 knockouts) was to fight Washington (16-0-1, 11 KOs) in the opener of Showtime’s broadcast, which is headlined by a main event pitting unbeaten World Boxing Assn. featherweight champion Leo Santa Cruz against Kiko Martinez.
The Showtime card is now scheduled to open with what had been the planned co-main event, a rematch for the World Boxing Council super-bantamweight belt between champion Julio Ceja and Hugo Rivas.
Their August fight at Staples Center included knockdowns by each fighter.
