Michael Schumacher reported stable as family thanks supporters
Michael Schumacher’s condition was stable but still critical as the seven-time Formula One champion remained in a medically induced coma for a brain injury, his agent told reporters.
“The good news for today is . . . there’s no significant changes,†Sabine Kehm said Wednesday outside Grenoble University Hospital in France where Schumacher has undergone two operations.
“However, it is still very early and the situation overall is critical,†she said. “Everything can change immediately.â€
Schumacher, who turns 45 on Friday, suffered the injury while skiing in the French Alps on Sunday.
Meanwhile, his family posted a message on Schumacher’s website that said “we would like to thank the people from all around the world who have expressed their sympathy and sent their best wishes for his recovery.â€
“We all know he is a fighter and will not give up,†it said.
Schumacher, who retired a second time after the 2012 season, is the most successful driver in the history of the Formula One series. In addition to his record seven titles, the German driver also holds the record for most victories with 91.
