Marcos Maidana put on 17 pounds in one day before Mayweather fight
LAS VEGAS -- Floyd Mayweather is known as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
But Marcos Maidana might be the best at putting on pounds.
Maidana, who weighed in at 146.5 pounds Thursday at the official weigh-in, stepped on the scale Friday and was 165 -- an increase of 18.5 pounds!
Mayweather gained just two pounds, weighing 148 on Friday.
Fighters often starve and dehydrate themselves in order to make weight, then replenish themselves in the 30 or so hours before the fight.
