Russia eliminates U.S. from junior world hockey championship
For the second year in a row the United States has been eliminated from the junior world hockey championship tournament without earning a medal.

“If you have to kill off that many penalties in a row you spend a lot of energy,†U.S. Coach Mark Osiecki said. “That caught up to us. We were very disciplined before and for some reason it didn’t work out today.â€
Russia took a 2-0 lead in the first period on a a power-play goal by Ivan Barbashev and a rebound shot by Alexander Sharov. Sergei Tolchinsk scored on a power play early in the third period for the Russians to stretch their lead to 3-1.
