With Clippers Coach Doc Rivers not at practice Friday because of what the team called “personal reasons,†no one else was willing to talk around Danny Granger signing with the team.

That’s because Granger won’t officially be a member of the Clippers until he clears waivers at 2 p.m. West Coast time Friday and signs with them.

Granger and Rivers met Thursday night in Los Angeles, and it was then that the small forward decided he wanted to play for the Clippers.

Granger was waived by the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday, making him a free agent who can sign with any team.

Granger had been traded to the 76ers last week by the Indiana Pacers.

Blake Griffin was willing to talk about why the Clippers have now become an attractive destination for free agents.

“We’ve got guys that guys want to play with,†Griffin said before practice. “CP [Chris Paul] and Jamal [Crawford] and these guys have been playing for a long time and they are guys that are very well respected around the league.â€
