Danica Patrick files for divorce
NASCAR driver Danica Patrick has filed for divorce from her husband of seven years, Paul Hospenthal.
Patrick filed for divorce on Jan. 3 in the Superior Court of Arizona in Maricopa County. She listed an “irretrievably broken†marriage as the cause for her filing.
“My marriage is irretrievably broken and there is no reasonable prospect of reconciliation,†she said in the filing.
According to court documents, Patrick and Hospenthal had a prenuptial agreement and there will be no alimony paid.
“My spouse and I did acquire community property during our marriage, and it will be divided as indicated on a Settlement Agreement which will be submitted to the court at a later date,†Patrick said in the filing.
Hospenthal has a right to respond to Patrick’s filing, but has not done so yet.
“I am sad to inform my fans that after 7 years, Paul and I have decided to amicably end our marriage,†Patrick wrote on Facebook. “This isn’t easy for either of us, but mutually it has come to this. He has been an important person and friend in my life and that’s how we will remain moving forward.â€
