The Clippers still are searching for a coach to replace Vinny Del Negro, the process moving along now that they have some candidates.

The Clippers have had preliminary discussions with Indiana Pacers associate head coach Brian Shaw; former NBA coach and current ESPN analyst Jeff Van Gundy; former Cleveland Cavaliers coach Byron Scott and former Phoenix Suns coach Alvin Gentry.

Memphis Coach Lionel Hollins is someone the Clippers are interested in if he is not given a contract extension by the Grizzlies.

Clippers vice president of basketball operations Gary Sacks didn’t want to mention any names, but did say “there is a strong group out there.â€

“We’re definitely confident that we’ll find the right fit for our organization,†Sacks said. “We’re still kind of in the preliminary stages of our search and obviously we hope to conclude this process as soon as possible. But we’re going to do our due-diligence and go through it.â€

When asked if players such as All-Stars Chris Paul and Blake Griffin would have a role in deciding who the next coach will be, Sacks said, “No.â€

“All of our decisions are organizational decisions that are made by the front office in conjunction with ownership,†Sacks said. “So I don’t think players should be consulted on any decisions personnelwise, once we decide on something. Do we in the course of talking to our players, get some input? Sure. But all decisions are made strictly by us -- 100%. There’s no wavering. There’s no gray area there.â€
