Kelly vs. Kiffin: NFC East showdown has a Pac-12 flair
Philadelphia plays at Dallas in a winner-take-all game next Sunday with the NFC East title hanging in the balance.
That means another mental matchup between Eagles Coach Chip Kelly and Cowboys defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin.
Kelly and Kiffin are familiar foes, as Kelly was head coach at Oregon when Kiffin was defensive coordinator at USC.
A year ago, Kelly’s Ducks generated the most yards ever against the Trojans. USC’s biggest meltdown in 2012 was a 62-51 loss to Oregon, in which the Ducks gained 730 yards, including 321 on the ground by Kenjon Barner. Oregon’s points, yardage and Barner’s rushing yards were all records for a USC opponent.
Kiffin got some payback this season when the Cowboys nearly shut out the Eagles in Philadelphia, 17-3.
Even though Dallas’ defensive line was missing three projected starters, the Cowboys harassed Nick Foles the whole day, sidelining him in the third quarter with a concussion.
