Update: The Galaxy and Chivas USA meet for the second time this season — in a Galaxy designated home game — with playoff implications on the line. Chivas trails the Galaxy by four points for the fifth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference heading into Saturday’s duel. Chivas’ All-Star goalkeeper Dan Kennedy will face a revitalized Galaxy attack, but will do so without the aid of Chivas’ defensive midfielder Oswaldo Minda, who suffered a dislocated shoulder in practice a week ago. The Galaxy earned a point in Wednesday’s 2-2 tie at Vancouver, a match it trailed until 18-year-old midfielder Jose Villarreal recorded his first MLS goal in the 87th minute. The comeback was critical for the Galaxy, which remained four points behind Vancouver for the fourth playoff spot. David Beckham has been largely responsible for the team’s increased offense, with three goals in the last two games. Chivas, which topped Portland, 1-0, on Wednesday, has yet to score more than two goals in a game this season. Galaxy and Chivas will face off again on Aug. 12.
