Rams’ Aaron Donald and Cooper Kupp are voted to Pro Bowl
Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald and wide receiver Cooper Kupp were voted to the Pro Bowl, the Rams announced Monday.
Full rosters for the NFC and AFC teams will not be released until Wednesday.
It is the eighth Pro Bowl selection for Donald, the first for Kupp.
Donald, a three-time NFL defensive player of the year, has a team-best 10 sacks going into Tuesday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks at SoFi Stadium. He has been voted to the Pro Bowl every year since the Rams selected him with the 13th pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
The Rams got a big boost with cornerback Jalen Ramsey coming off the COVID-19 list ahead of Tuesday’s game vs. Seattle. How many others will return?
On Sunday, when asked about the possibility of another Pro Bowl selection, Donald reiterated that his focus was on winning a Super Bowl.
“If you accomplish anything like that, it would be a blessing,†he said of the Pro Bowl. “So, just a body of work you put in and people noticing that, so it’s a blessing if I was to accomplish that.
“But, obviously, we know what my main goal is, what I’m trying to accomplish.â€
Kupp, a third-round draft pick in 2017, leads the NFL with 113 receptions, 1,489 yards receiving and 12 touchdown catches.
“That’s an incredible honor I am very thankful for if that comes to be,†Kupp said Sunday when asked about the possibility of making the Pro Bowl. “Just being able to be in that place with so many incredible football players.
“It’s really a testament to, I’ve said this before, the receiver position is in my opinion the most reliant on the other 10 guys to do their job. So to be able to put together a good year that is worthy of being able to make it to a Pro Bowl and be honored in that way is truly a testament to those 10 guys that are stepping onto the field with you, everyone doing their job and allowing you to execute your job.â€
Cornerback Jalen Ramsey is a strong candidate to earn his fifth Pro Bowl selection when rosters are announced.
