NBA roundup: Hawks beat Trail Blazers to make it 18 wins in a row

The Atlanta Hawks overcame 37 points by Portland’s LaMarcus Aldridge to extend their franchise-record winning streak to 18 games by beating the visiting Trail Blazers, 105-99, on Friday night.

Portland, which has lost four of five, led after each of the first three quarters but couldn’t stretch the advantage to more than six points.

After the score was tied four times in the fourth quarter, three-pointers by Mike Scott and Paul Millsap gave Atlanta its biggest lead at 97-91. Portland came no closer than four points the remainder of the game.

Millsap scored 21 points to lead six Atlanta scorers in double figures. Al Horford had 17 points and Kyle Korver 16. Atlanta outscored Portland, 36-25, in the final period.

at Cleveland 101, Sacramento 90: Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving combined for 44 points, and LeBron James scored 19 in his return from a one-game absence, leading the Cleveland to their ninth straight win. Love led Cleveland with 23 points, including 16 in the first quarter. Irving, who scored 55 points Wednesday against Portland, added 21.

Dallas 93, at Miami 72: Charlie Villanueva scored 20 points, and the Mavericks went on an unbelievable 37-2 run in the second half to embarrass the Heat. Dallas was down by 16 points in the third quarter, down nine with about three minutes to go in the third and then turned the game completely around.

Houston 93, at Boston 87: Donatas Motiejunas scored 10 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter as the Rockets improved to 17-7 on the road, best in the Western Conference. Motiejunas also had 12 rebounds for the Rockets, who overcame a four-for-21 shooting effort by James Harden and a nine-point third quarter.

Toronto 127, at Brooklyn 122 (OT): DeMar DeRozan scored 26 points, Amir Johnson made the tiebreaking basket with 41 seconds left in overtime, and the Raptors won their fifth in a row. Jarrett Jack scored a career-high 35 points for the Nets, and added 13 assists and eight rebounds. Brook Lopez came off the bench for 35 points and 12 rebounds.

at Philadelphia 103, Minnesota 94: Michael Carter-Williams had a triple-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the 76ers in a matchup of two of the league’s worst teams. Philadelphia ended a 23-game streak of not scoring 100 points.

at Utah 110, Golden State 100: Gordon Hayward, coming off a sinus infection, scored 26 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as the Jazz upset the league’s highest-scoring team. Stephen Curry scored 32 points for the Warriors, his ninth 30-point game of the season.

at Phoenix 99, Chicago 93: Eric Bledsoe and Goran Dragic won the battle of the guards as the Suns held off the Bulls.
