The Lakers have released a statement condemning the racist comments that have been attributed to Clippers owner Donald Sterling.

“The comments and sentiments expressed on the tape are reprehensible and disturbing, and certainly are the opposite of how the Lakers feel about the league’s players and fans,†Lakers President Jeanie Buss said in the statement. “I have full confidence that Adam Silver and the NBA will handle this situation appropriately.â€

On Friday, TMZ released audio purported to be of Sterling, telling a friend he was upset she posted a photo on Instagram of herself next to Hall of Fame Laker Magic Johnson, because of the color of his skin.
