Lakers vs. Nuggets, Game 1: Lakers 27, Nuggets 14
Lakers 27, Nuggets 14 (end of first quarter)
It wasn’t a great quarter of basketball but the Lakers seemed content to have the lead against the high-scoring Nuggets. The Lakers surged to a 10-point lead with a little more than a minute to play on a Matt Barnes steal and score.
The Lakers then finished out the quarter even stronger with a Steve Blake three-pointer and a free throw by Kobe Bryant.
The Lakers were shooting the ball well, making nine of 15 shots. Bryant had six points, four of those coming off free throws. Devin Ebanks and Ramon Sessions each had four points. Andrew Bynum had five rebounds.
The Nuggets were led by Danilo Gallinari with nine points. Denver was shooting a terrible 25% (five for 20).
