Update: The Mavericks are eighth in the Western Conference, managing to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot despite bleak forecasts. Dirk Nowitzki continues to score at a solid rate at age 35 (20.9 points a game) and Monta Ellis has been a great free-agent pickup (20 points, 5.8 assists a game). Nowitzki scored only 11 points but Dallas still beat the Lakers in November, 123-104, thanks to 30 points from Ellis and 18 from reserve Jae Crowder.
