Curt Schilling says he was encouraged to use PEDs with Red Sox

Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling told Colin Cowherd on his ESPN radio show that “former members of the organization” told him performance-enhancing drugs were an option to help him get healthy when a shoulder injury sidelined him in 2008.

Schilling did not identify the person who told him, other than to say it is a person no longer with the Red Sox.

“At the end of my career, in 2008 when I had gotten hurt, there was a conversation that I was involved in, in which it was brought to my attention that this is a potential path I might want to pursue,” Schilling said.

“It was an incredibly uncomfortable conversation,” he added. “Because it came up in the midst of a group of people. The other people weren’t in the conversation but they could clearly hear the conversation. And it was suggested to me that at my age and in my situation, why not? What did I have to lose?”

When asked if he would identify the person he said. “Former members of the organization. They are no longer there.”
