Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Yovani Gallardo, who has won 33 games over the last two seasons with the team, has been cited in a drunken driving incident in Milwaukee.
Milwaukee County sheriff’s spokeswoman Fran McLaughlin says deputies responded early Tuesday morning to a report of a possibly intoxicated driver. Police said they saw a car driven by Gallardo going at a slow speed down a freeway.
McLaughlin quotes the arrest report as saying Gallardo, who allegedly told police that he had a few beers, had red eyes, slurred speech and smelled of alcohol. His blood-alcohol level was 0.22, police said, nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08.
Neither the Brewers not Gallardo have commented on the incident.
