Angels sell more than 30,000 tickets Saturday

Tempe, Ariz. -- The Angels sold slightly more than 30,000 tickets, totaling over $1 million, on Saturday, the first day fans could purchase individual game tickets for the 2012 season. In addition, the April 6 season opener against the Kansas City Royals in Angel Stadium is close to being sold out.

Fourteen new season tickets were sold, bringing to 22,346 the number of full-season equivalent tickets (season tickets plus mini-season plans) that have been sold since the end of the 2011 season.

But a technical glitch in the Ticketmaster computer system just as tickets went on sale at 9 a.m. PST left some fans frustrated. Those requesting tickets for the three-game series against the New York Yankees on May 28-30 were re-directed to a Sept. 22 game against the Chicago White Sox.

According to Tim Mead, the Angels’ vice president of communications, the problem was cleared up within 20 minutes.
