X Games: Pierre Luc-Gagnon captures gold in Skateboard Vert final
When Pierre Luc-Gagnon exited the ramp after his last run Saturday, he thought Bucky Lasek would pass him on the evening’s final attempt.
Seconds later, his fears turned to joy as he won his sixth gold in the Skateboard Vert final at Nokia Theatre.
“It was a great contest,†Luc-Gagnon said. “We like to keep it exciting for the crowd.â€
While Luc-Gagnon and Lasek finished with identical leading scores of 91.0, the former won the tiebreaker because of his next-best performance, an 88.0, which bested Lasek’s second-best 87.66

“It was fun,†Luc-Gagnon said. “It was great to be out there with Bucky and battling. We tied and I was pretty nervous.â€
Luc-Gagnon won silver at the 2011 X Games. Last year’s gold medalist, Shaun White, did not participate in the competition this year.
Andy MacDonald won the bronze medal with an 85.66 behind Luc-Gagnon and Lasek.
