Agnieszka Radwanska, a 23-year-old from Poland playing in only her second major semifinal, made use of her deadly aim and wide array of shots to beat eighth-seeded Angelique Kerber, a 24-year-old German playing in only her third major semifinal, 6-3, 6-4 Thursday at Wimbledon.

Radwanska, seeded third, has a chance to become the No. 1-ranked player in the world if Serena Williams beats second-seeded and second-ranked Victoria Azarenka in Thursday’s second semifinal.

“I’m amazing happy,†Radwanska said. “I played really good today.â€

Radwanska, who won the tournament at La Costa last summer, said she felt nervous at the start of the match. “You want to try your best,†she said, “but sometimes you want it too much and your hands are a bit shaking.â€

When she’s gotten to tournament finals this year, Radwanska is 3-0, with titles at Dubai, Miami and Brussels. In 2012 she is 10-6 against opponents ranked in the top 20. All six of the losses have come to Azarenka.
