Up next for UCLA: Thursday vs. Washington State
When: 7:30.
Where: Sports Arena.
On the air: Radio: 570.
Records: UCLA 16-13, 9-7 Pac-12; Washington State 14-14, 6-10.
Update: UCLA will try to improve its credentials for the tournament … the National Invitation Tournament. Winning the Pac-12 tournament is the only scenario in which the Bruins end up in the NCAA tournament. But even their NIT chances seem iffy at the moment. UCLA Coach Ben Howland called Washington State center Brock Motum the “most improved player in the conference†from a year ago. Motum had 25 points against the Bruins last month. But the 6-foot-10 Motum was shut out the final 13 minutes after UCLA switched from man-to-man defense to a zone. Motum’s last basket gave the Cougars a 47-42 lead. UCLA won, 63-60.
