Sophomore Isaac Cota throws three-hit shutout
Sophomore Isaac Cota threw a three-hit shutout to lead Los Angeles Lincoln to its first baseball championship, a 3-0 victory over San Fernando Chavez in the City Section Division II championship game on Saturday at Dodger Stadium.
“It was heaven on Earth,†Cota said. “It was the best feeling ever.â€
Cota struck out two and walked none. Lincoln (15-6), located three miles from Dodger Stadium, scored three unearned runs in the first inning and relied on flawless defense.
Shortstop Christian Frias had five assists. Left fielder Hugo Avendano had three catches.
