Venice has lost to Crenshaw in the semifinals of the City Section Division I playoffs twice in the last three years but hopes tonight will be different when the teams meet at Crenshaw for a spot in the championship game next week at East L.A. College.

The Western League champion Gondoliers (10-2) are riding a nine-game winning streak. They beat Locke 62-0 in the first round and San Pedro 28-14 in the quarterfinals. Venice is seeded #3 and is led by senior quarterback Alexander Diamont, who has committed to Indiana.

The Coliseum League champion Cougars (8-4) have shut out six of their last seven opponents, outscoring the opposition by a combined score of 406-12. Crenshaw is seeded #2 and is led by USC-bound senior quarterback Ajene Harris.
