Mater Dei’s defense has picked off three passes and the Monarchs lead Mission Viejo 21-7 at halftime at Santa Ana Stadium.
Matthew Rockett and Jacob Welch have caught touchdown passes and Landon Iakopo has run for a score for the Monarchs.
Mission Viejo quarterback Ian Fieber has completed only three of 14 passes -- one to Daniel Marx for the game’s first touchdown.
