Southern Section to return sports dues after surplus

The 576 member schools of the CIF Southern Section will have their sports dues for 2014-15 returned because of a “significant surplus in net revenue” from budget projections this past school year, Commissioner Rob Wigod announced on Tuesday.
Increased attendance at championship events and control of expenses helped create the surplus.
Schools pay up to $1,250 a year in sports dues ($50 a sport) depending on how many sports they compete in. They will be returned.
Wigod announced that more than $1.2 million in profits were returned from the championship playoffs and nearly $127,000 was paid to schools for television and internet agreements.
