The best individual performance from Southern Section girls’ basketball playoffs last week was turned in by 5-foot-8 senior Kailey Tooke of Culver City.
She scored 46 points, including 28 in the second half, to help Culver City upset Long Beach Millikan, 72-69, in a 1AA playoff game.
Next up is Redondo on Wednesday night at Redondo in a quarterfinal game.
Tooke is a four-year starter for Culver City, whose coach, Julian Anderson, said the 46 points was the most scored in his 11 years as varsity coach.
“Driving to the basket is her strength,” he said. “She’s strong and has a very quick first stop. She’s perfected the floater.”
Culver City won the Ocean League for the fifth straight year with a 9-1 record.
