Girls’ basketball: Canyon Springs wins Division I regional title

San Diego State-bound Cheyenne Greenhouse scored 27 points to spark Moreno Valley Canyon Springs to a 66-51 win over Mission Hills Alemany in the Southern California Regional Division I girls’ final.
Canyon Springs (24-6) led in rebounds, 41-28. Charnea Johnson Chapman had 12 points and 15 rebounds.
“They did a great job today,” said Canyon Springs Coach Gail Hale, whose team lost to Long Beach Poly in last year’s regional final. “I’m so proud of my kids.”
Breanna Calhoun finished with 13 points and Genessa Bedoya had 12 points for Alemany (26-8).
Canyon Springs will play Pleasant Grove in Friday’s Division I state championship game at 6 p.m. at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento.
