Girls’ basketball: Alemany-Chaminade rivalry turns bloody

During the fourth quarter of Alemany’s 68-54 win over Chaminade in a girls’ basketball game on Thursday night, Chaminade’s Alyssa Fisher, a transfer from Alemany, was struck on the nose, drawing blood and resulting in the ejection of Alemany’s Cacie Smith, according to school administrators.

There were crowd control issues after the incident. No foul was called on the play.

Chaminade Coach Kelli DiMuro said she believed Fisher had been receiving rough treatment from Alemany in retaliation for transferring.

Fisher was taken to a hospital emergency room for treatment. DiMuro said she plans to send video to the Southern Section office.

“It was uncalled for. It was ridiculous,” DiMuro said.

Alemany assistant principal Randy Thompson said the school intends to review video of the play.
