Football: When it comes to tight ends, Colby Parkinson stands above everyone

Tight ends are regaining importance in a time of spread offenses. Colleges are seeking them out, and Southern California is home to one of the best in the nation in 6-foot-7 Colby Parkinson of Oaks Christian.

Once a three-sport athlete, Parkinson dropped baseball last spring to prepare for this football season, and the Stanford commit is in his best shape ever. He’s expected to become the top target for quarterback Matt Corral, a USC commit.

Brigham Young has commits from two tight ends in Bentley Hanshaw from Moorpark and Isaac Rex from San Clemente.

Junior Taeveon Le of Corona del Mar is Orange County’s smaller version of Parkinson. He’s 6-4, also a basketblal player, athletic, tough, smart and loves to compete.

Junior Camren McDonald of Long Beach Poly showed as a sophomore he can make an impact catching passes.

Junior Noah Gianelli, 6-4, 250 pounds, from St. Bonaventure, has the size to be a top receiver/blocker for the position.

Senior Moses Robinson-Carr of Antelope Valley is a 6-6, 245-pound Oregon commit who had six touchdown catches last season.
