It’s going to be difficult not selecting Daniel Belton of South East as the Eastern League player of the year.
In his latest performance, the middle linebacker-running back had 16 tackles, including nine solo tackles, plus two sacks and a blocked kick, to help South East (7-1) defeat previously unbeaten Roosevelt, 38-27.
“Daniel Belton had another unbelievable game,” offensive coordinator Chris Perlstein said.
Belton has 93 tackles on the season and is averaging 11.6 tackles a game. He also rushed for 86 yards in 10 carries and scored two touchdowns while catching five passes for 115 yards and one touchdown.
“A special kid,” Perlstein said of the 5-foot-11, 190-pound senior.
