Football: Running backs galore in Southern Section
- Share via
While teams have been passing the ball with increasing regularity, success still revolves around running the ball, and there’s a large collection of running backs in the Southern Section eager to rush for 2,000 yards and more.
Tre Watson of Corona Centennial, a Cal commit, will get to run behind another talented offensive line. Demario Richard of Palmdale has shown he can be unstoppable when healthy. Rashaad Penny of Norwalk and Justin Huff of Downey are coming off huge seasons in 2012.
Donovan Lee of Chaminade is ready to take over for Terrell Newby (now at Nebraska). Daniel Marx of Mission Viejo is a 245-pound fullback who loves to take out linebackers with a block. P.j. Walker of Citrus Hill rushed for nearly 2,000 yards for an unbeaten team.
James Williams of Burbank had nearly 1,500 yards as a sophomore. Tayler Livingston of Nordhoff rushed for 1,535 yards and 20 TDs.
