Football: Oaks Christian to dedicate field in honor of Bill Redell
Invitations are going out to former Oaks Christian football players inviting them to attend a special ceremony on Aug. 28 when the Lions open their season at home against Sherman Oaks Notre Dame.
Oaks Christian will name its field after Bill Redell, who started the Oaks Christian football program, twice served as head coach and is currently director of football operations.
“It’s very nice of the school to do that,” Redell said.
Jim Benkert, the former Westlake coach and a longtime friend of Redell, has taken over as head coach.
Redell is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. In fact, he’s a member of more than 10 hall of fames for his accomplishments as a player or coach.
