Football: Jasher Foster, Sean Davitt lead a surging St. Francis
It wasn’t long ago that St. Francis looked in deep trouble at 0-2 in league and possibly not making the playoffs. Now the Golden Knights are 9-3 and hosting La Serna on Friday night in a semifinal game of the Southeast Division playoffs with a five-game win streak.
Two players leading the surge have been receiver-defensive back Jasher Foster and defensive end Sean Davitt.
Foster, a star hurdler in track, has been catching big passes, making tackles and contributing on special teams.
Davitt had six sacks last week against Burroughs and has 21 on the season.
The other semifinal will have La Mirada playing at Cathedral.
La Mirada, like St. Francis, has come back after a brief struggle. Remember it was La Mirada losing to St. John Bosco, 76-8, to start the season.
La Serna had to deal with its own adversity after its former coach, Margarito Beltran, was fired last August. And Cathedral has come back from a hazing incident that saw 10 players suspended.
It will be the public schools against the two private schools from the Angelus League.
