Football: Ex-Alemany QB Vernon Adams has career day for Eastern Washington
Former Mission Hills Alemany quarterback Vernon Adams is going to be the talk of college football this weekend.
The sophomore engineered a 49-46 upset of No. 25-ranked Oregon State on Saturday, scoring the winning touchdown on a two-yard run with 18 seconds left.
He passed for 411 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 107 yards and two touchdowns.
Adams received lots of attention during his high school career. He led Alemany to the Pac-5 semifinals in 2010 and a 12-1 record before losing to eventual champion Servite, 28-21, in the semifinals.
He was a top freshman last season at Eastern Washington. He’s only 6 feet but his speed and versatility were on display against the Beavers.
