Football: CIF Open Division bowl game will be played at Sacramento State next season
After nine years of championship football bowl games being played in Carson at Home Depot Center and now StubHub Center, the CIF announced on Friday that Sacramento State has been awarded the Open Division bowl games for 2015, 2016 and 2017.
Sacramento State has hosted regional games at its Hornet Stadium in the past. It remains to be seen how many bowl games will be played in Sacramento. There’s a proposal to expand the bowl format to 13 bowl championship games. If that happens, bowl games will be played throughout the state.
StubHub Center is hosting this year’s bowl finals on Friday and Saturday.
