City Section to vote on mandatory dead period
- Share via
The City Section is moving toward imposing mandatory sports dead periods for its athletes similar to the Southern Section.
A vote on a proposal to establish dead periods for various sports is scheduled for next week by the Board of Managers.
The plan would require football teams to take a three-week dead period during the summer. Spring sports teams would also have to take a dead period in the fall or winter.
The proposal is designed to give coaches and athletes a break from year-round training that continues to gain momentum as a trend in high school sports.
