Boys’ basketball: View Park is seeking to overturn playoff ban for team
- Share via
View Park Prep is going to court seeking to overturn a City Section ruling that suspended the basketball team from participating in next week’s playoffs, Commissioner John Aguirre said Wedensday.
View Park was sanctioned for having an ineligible player last season. No paperwork was submitted on the player who transferred, Aguirre said.
As punishment under City Section rules, the team had to forfeit all games last season, was placed on one year probation, was banned from this season’s playoffs and the school was fined.
View Park appealed the decision to the Board of Managers but was denied. It has filed paperwork informing the City Section that it will seek in an injunction in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday.
The City Section seeding meeting is scheduled for Saturday.
View Park Athletic Director Robert Ambers could not be reached for comment.
